Now.

Let me say first of all that my business is internet and direct marketing and copywriting on my own behalf - consultancy is not my prime business

However: I attend all of the conferences and am in more or less weekly contact with some of the top names in internet and direct marketing, so I have my finger on the pulse .

 Some of what is known and used by daily by them rarely enters the public domain and  with this,  I can really help you.

 And with the experience of having set up and run a number of  businesses

When I do do consultancy, I do not want a heap of terms and conditions - nor any arguments over what was done. (Life is too short!!, really!)

I only want satisfied customers.

So I normally make this single promise to my first time customers, with a very simple deal:

You pay up front

That way I do not get timewasters, and I will not deal with latepayers ever.

But here is the ultimate protection for my customers.

If in your opinion, (not mine)

I have not given you excellent value for money - then it is simple.

Call me within 3 weeks of recieving my report, copy or ad:

It is your choice, either we agree a program of further changes or additions, or you only have to ask and I will refund your money in full.

 Will I get ripped off this way one day? Probably. But I would rather know that all of my customers are satisfied, than impose terms and conditions designed to weed out scammers.

So How can I say fairer than that?

If you take my work - you are paying for results, and you judge them.
If you dont believe you have got those results then it is  your choice

When it comes to copy, of course: I want to see evidence that the copy has been used, before giving a refund! - evidence of an advert a leaflet drop. Whatever. You see : only the customer can judge whether an ad is successfu.

So check the correspondence, to see whether your project is covered by this guarantee - which it is for a first time customer.

One further point. You can get me to write copy either fixed price, or with a % royalty.  If I accept your project on royalty , then clearly it is in my interest to keep testing and refining an ad to give maximum return

I will need to see inside the wesbite for conversion, so will want access to at least google analytics applied to the site.

If I do fixed price copy, I will give you a minimum of five headlines for you to test
